So after the orientation/tour I started work on my first project; a vertical jump test pole that uses a frisbee. We had something like this at a club fair a few years back, but it was lost/broken at some point so now I want to make one. There’s a company that sells a product for this that should serve as good visual reference:

So the idea is you can raise and lower the height of the arm to find the maximum height where you can jump and grab the frisbee. I think the version pictured above uses magnets to attach the frisbee to the arm (so it will stay in place on its own but will detach when grabbed), but I remember the one from a few years ago used magnets and it would fall off sometimes if you raised the arm too fast, so I’ll try to think of something better.

Most of the work today was brainstorming a design that would work with the materials I have at hand; I found some PVC pipe that should work. I’m thinking I can have one stationary PVC pipe on the ground, and another smaller pipe inside of it that can be “extended” up and locked in place with little spring pins like the handle of a roller suitcase.
